Maria Weston Chapman congratulates Elizabeth Pease Nichol on the formation of the British India Society. The American abolitionists are enthusiastic about its objectives. Mr. & Mrs. Wendell Phillips "write to me of the great satisfaction they have had in knowing you." J. Scoble has been lecturing on West Indian emancipation. Some abolitionists "are labouring to extinguish the religious opinions of their brethren on other subjects, instead of co-operating with them against the common enemy." Chapman explained the reason for the religious differences among abolitionists to an audience in Lynn. She sends the pamphlet, Right and Wrong in Massachusetts
